The Maldives reported a notable 15.1% increase in tourist arrivals for July 2024, with 150,404 visitors compared to 130,660 in July 2023, according to the Ministry of Tourism. This surge highlights a positive trend in the tourism sector’s recovery and growth.
Year-to-date figures for 2024 show a 10% increase, with 1,165,933 arrivals compared to 1,060,267 in the same period in 2023. January and March saw significant increases of 11.5% and 11.9%, respectively, while February had the highest growth at 22.2%.
China, Russia, and the UK are the leading tourist markets, with China contributing 154,665 arrivals. The Maldives currently operates 1,215 tourist facilities, including 182 resorts and 867 guesthouses, offering a total of 62,481 beds.
The continued growth in tourist arrivals underscores the Maldives’ resilience and appeal as a premier travel destination, promising a positive outlook for the rest of the year.
