Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has announced a significant new venture to export frozen fish to Southeast Asian countries, in partnership with the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO). This initiative marks a major expansion in MSS’s export operations.
On July 14, MSS’s first shipment of frozen fish set sail for Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka aboard the cargo ship MSS Graphene. This effort is part of MSS’s broader strategy to enhance the export capabilities of Maldivian fisheries.
MSS has a successful history of exporting fish from MIFCO and other Maldivian companies to European markets. As a representative of Hapag-Lloyd, the world’s fourth-largest shipping line, MSS operates with a network of agents in over 30 countries.
With a fleet of five cargo ships and more than 2,000 containers, MSS continues to grow its shipping routes. The company currently provides cargo services from Colombo to Malé and from Dubai to Malé.
The new export route to Southeast Asia highlights MSS’s commitment to expanding its market reach and supporting the Maldivian fishing industry.
