The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) and the National Hotel and Guesthouse Association of Maldives (NHGAM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today to promote the Maldives as a top tourist destination. The agreement was signed by MMPRC’s CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, and NHGAM’s Vice President, Ahmed Waheed, at a ceremony at MMPRC Headquarters.
Under the MOU, NHGAM will support marketing efforts and participant recruitment, maximizing their engagement in fairs and events, including the Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) 2024. Both parties will jointly promote the Maldives, boost local island tourism, and strengthen the Maldives’ position as a leading global tourist destination.
The ATF 2024, the first collaboration under this MOU, is a key event among governments, businesses, and development agencies across Asia, offering opportunities for networking, partnership building, and cultural exchange. This year’s ATF coincides with World Tourism Day, adding extra prestige to the event.
MMPRC aims to elevate the Maldives as a preferred tourism destination by forging strategic partnerships with key industry stakeholders like NHGAM. This collaboration is expected to significantly boost tourist arrivals and contribute to the growth of the Maldives’ tourism industry, reinforcing its position as the World’s Leading Destination.
