Xiamen Airlines has launched direct flights from Xiamen, China, to Velana International Airport (VIA) in Male’, Maldives. The inaugural flight, a Boeing 787, successfully landed on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in air travel between China and the Maldives.
The airline will operate three weekly flights on the Xiamen-Male’ route, providing convenient access for Chinese tourists to the Maldives’ stunning coral reefs, pristine beaches, and luxurious resorts.
Founded in 1984 and headquartered in Xiamen, Xiamen Airlines operates over 320 routes, carrying nearly 25 million passengers annually. This new service strengthens the Maldives’ appeal as a prime destination for Chinese holidaymakers and boosts the tourism industry’s recovery post-pandemic.
